‘Thor 2’ Brings In ‘Game Of Thrones’ Director Alan Taylor To Replace Patty Jenkins

It’s being reported that Alan Taylor has been chosen to replace Patty Jenkins as director of Thor 2, the follow-up the hit Marvel Comics adaptation that was released this past May.

Jenkins, who wrote and directed the Oscar-winning Monster with Charlize Theron, chose to walk away from the project earlier this month due to some creative differences, though she is expected to take on another superhero title down the road.

Taylor’s most recent work includes directing multiple episodes of HBO’s hit fantasy series Game of Thrones, which is apparently exactly what they were looking for in the post-Jenkins directors search with Daniel Minahan—also a director of Game of Thrones—being right there in the mix with as well.

Taylor’s HBO and TV credits don’t end there, either. His impressive resume includes directing episodes of Oz, Homicide: Life on the Street, The West Wing, Six Feet Under, Sex and the City, Carnivàle, Deadwood, LOST, Rome, Big Love, The Sopranos, Mad Men, Nurse Jackie, Bored to Death, Boardwalk Empire, and more. As for feature films, on the other hand, he doesn’t have nearly as much experience.

Thor 2 is currently looking to release around November of 2013.
