Henry Rollins’ Awesome Response To ‘Henry and Glenn Forever’ Comic
  |  @   |

If Henry and Glenn Forever isn’t on your radar, it really should be. It’s an indie comic that imagines Misfits/Danzig frontman Glenn Danzig and Black Flag’s Henry Rollins in a committed, loving relationship. And if you know anything about these two muscle-bulging macho metal icons, you’ll how humorous this scenario is.

The creators of Henry and Glenn Forever — Tom Neely, Scot Nobles, and Gin Stevens of the art collective Igloo Tornado, posted a comic strip of what they say is the “mostly true” reaction by Danzig to the comic.

But what does Henry Rollins think of it?

In a video interview with Narduwar the Serviette, Rollins once again proves how awesome he is by stating his belief in the First Amendment and that he’s even “obediently” signed the front cover of the comic — an image that shows him rubbing Danzig’s shoulders in consolation. He also doesn’t think that Danzig would have the same reaction to it as him, stating “I don’t think [Danzig] has a real wide berth for humor and something like that would really get him going.

You can watch the entire video here below where the talking about the comic begins at the 6:18 mark. The good folks over at The Beat posted the transcription of the conversation, which is pasted here below.

Q: There’s a comic out there called Henry and Glenn forever.

Rollins: I’ve only seen the cover I’ve never looked inside the pages.

Q: Has Glenn seen this?

Rollins: Glenn doesn’t have a–I don’t think he has a real wide berth for humor and something like that would really get him going. I don’t care. I believe in the First Amendment. I think Glenn would not take it well, or so I venture to guess.

Q: How would you describe it for people who haven’t seen it?

Rollins: I can describe the cover. I think it’s a drawing of Glenn and someone who likes like me on it. I forget. I sign it. People give me a copy to sign and I obediently sign the front cover, but I’ve never looked inside. I really don’t feel the need.

I think Rollins’ reaction is great. He’s an artist himself — he’s a poet and photographer as well as musician — so it makes sense that he’d be OK with the comic. Also, he obviously has a sense of humor, not just in general, but about himself. I love that he will totally sign a copy of Henry and Glenn Forever for his fans without hesitation or attitude. As far as Danzig goes, it’s really no surprise that he’d have a problem with it.

  1. I don’ think Hank’s “okay with it”, he just accepts and defends another person’s right to create. If he were “okay with it” he might bother to read it and venture a further opinion. Lets agree that he’s tolerant of it instead.

  2. I stumbled upon this at forbidden planet and I sleep with it under my pillow.  It is great to be reminded once in a while that I am still a metal head at heart
