‘Shrek Forever After’ Scribe Darren Lemke To Write ‘Goosebumps’ Movie
  |  @   |

Remember Goosebumps, the series of horror books aimed at youths and written by author R.L. Stine? The books were mostly popular in the ’90s but still continue to be made in one form or another to this day.

As it turns out, Columbia Pictures acquired the rights to about 50 of Stine’s works back in 2008 and has been developing a feature adaptation of the books since then. And now they’ve found a writer for the job—it’s being reported that Darren Lemke, who wrote the scripts for Shrek Forever After and the upcoming Bryan Singer fantasy adventure, Jack the Giant Killer, has been brought in to adapt Goosebumps into script form.

Multiple writers have been brought in to work on the project before, but no one has had any luck figuring out the right story to extract from the many books and use first. Will Lemke succeed?

What’s your favorite Goosebumps story from childhood that you’d like to see turned into a movie?

  1. The Night of the Living Dummy collection was always my favourite, I concede that the TV series wasn’t THAT good but the movie might. I confess if they all can be made into a massive carnage of a movie, then I’d watch. CGI would make things better or a series of short films. So we’ll have to see how it goes.

  2. The Horror at Camp Jellyjam,
    The Cuckoo Clock of Doom,
    Attack of the Mutant,
    One Day at HorrorLand,
It Came from Beneath the Sink!
If I had to choose one I’d probably pick “attack of the mutant”. That one I really enjoyed as a kid.
