Tim Burton Chats ‘Beetlejuice 2’ Status
  |  @   |

Beetlejuice 2 hasn’t yet been greenlighted by anyone, and while some may be intrigued by the prospect (I won’t lie, I’m pretty curious) many folks probably don’t ever want to see it happen.

Nevertheless, those involved with the movie seem to be high on the idea of doing a follow-up. Back in June of 2010, it was revealed that both Geena Davis and Michael Keaton would be happy to return to the roles they played in the 1988 original, and now the man behind said original, Tim Burton, is also talking about the possibility of seeing a sequel happen.

Speaking to MTV News recently, Burton spoke on how much he loves the character and how good Keaton was in the role. He also mentions that he told Seth Grahame-Smith—the author of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (which is being adapted into a movie produced by Burton) who was hired to pen a Beetlejuice sequel along with David Katzenberg this past September—to come up with some ideas and get back to him.

Burton said:

Yes. I love that character, and Michael is so great in it.

I always think about how great and fun that character was, so I just said to Seth, ‘If you have some idea about it, go for it, and then I’ll look at it freshly.’

In the past, I tried some things, but that was way back when. He seemed really excited about it.

Again, nothing is official yet. But it sounds like everyone is fairly pumped to give this a go, so all it really comes down to is if they figure out a good storyline to run with or not.

Do you want to see a Beetlejuice sequel?

  1. yes, beetlejuice can easily be done .. regardless of keatons age. That’s the beauty of white makeup. can hide those age marks. Rider, Davis, and Baldwin on the other hand look very old lol
