Month after month, this book gets more entertaining and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #6 is no exception. You get everything you wanted in a Turtles comic, in spades.
I’m not sure how Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz split the writing chores, but they are doing a fantastic job on this book. There’s SO much going on, but the audience is never confused or overwhelmed. What impresses me most is that they’ve stuck to the characteristics of the Turtles, but yet, there’s a tangible tension at times between the four brothers.
This issue in particular, there’s a some great character moments, another little tidbit of their origin revealed and a surprise last page reveal that’s worth the $3.99 cover price alone.
Dan Duncan is rapidly becoming one of my favorite artists. He’s got a great style and makes the strange creatures in this book fit perfectly into the world of the humans. His ability to draw the mood and atmosphere of New York City is amazing. Another great issue by Duncan.
If you have any love for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, you NEED to read this book! If you don’t have anything invested in the characters, check it out, it’s an amazingly fun comic.
