Scott Rudin Bringing Sundance Hit Documentary ‘Indie Game’ To The Small Screen On HBO

No one appears to know nerds quite like producer Scott Rudin.

Having backed the beloved The Social Network, the super producer has just made one of the bigger deals at this year’s Sundance Film Festival (still in the very early days, for what it is worth), picking up the remake rights to the documentary Indie Game: The Movie.

The film looks into the development of three respective independently developed video games, and four of the creators behind them, as well as their refusal to go and work for major game developers while trying to score big with their own indie works. Rudin will team up HBO to create a 30-minute comedy series based around the premise, this time telling a fictional story as opposed to the real stories told in the documentary.

The premise itself sounds beyond intriguing, and honestly, a comedy series within the world of video game development could be really cool. I think the foundation is there for something quite special, and with Rudin behind the show, there will be a ton of people lining up to join this series.

What do you think?
