Digital Comics Deal: Dark Horse Rock & Roll Sale
  |

Dark Horse Comics and Dark Horse Digital are currently offering a “Rock & Roll” Sale with collections and 99-cent single issues of Tom Morello‘s Orchid and Gerard Way‘s The Umbrella Academy.

Dark Horse is having a nice weekend of sales, huh? Well, following their Star Wars Mega Bundle Sale, the publishing company is offering us a rock & roll sale that features former Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello’s brand new Orchid comic book and My Chemical Romance lead vocalist Gerard Way’s The Umbrella Academy, and you can get every single issue from these comics for a mere 99 cents each.

Tom Morello’s Orchid is a story about a girl fighting against an oppressive regime on a post-apocalyptic Earth. Her family has been ripped apart, and she’s on a mission of revenge and freedom alongside some unlikely allies. Personally, I’ve only read the first issue, and it’s exactly the comic that I wanted from a former Rage Against The Machine member. The first issue was really interesting, but I got a little side tracked and never found the time to get caught up, but with this sale, I’ll definitely find the time to do so, and you should, too! The comic currently only has three issues available digitally, but at 99 cents a piece, it’s definitely worth your time and money.

Now we have Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba’s The Umbrella Academy. Now, whereas Orchid is exactly what you would expect from Tom Morello, The Umbrella Academy is not at all what I expected from a member of My Chemical Romance. It’s an incredibly bizarre tale of genetically enhanced school children, and while I wasn’t the biggest fan of the story and dialog when I first read this comic, the artwork was simply amazing. If you haven’t seen Ba’s work before, you absolutely have to get these comics. Available through this sale are The Umbrella Academy‘s first series Apocalypse Suite and the follow up series, Dallas, and as I said before, each issue is only 99 cents, so if you’re missing an issue of the series, make sure to complete your collection here. Now, if you would just like to read this comics in a collected edition, Apocalypse Suite and Dallas are only $5.94 a piece, which is about the same as the single issues. So, it’s really up to you as far as how you’d like to check out the series. I’d suggest the collected editions, but that’s just me. A lot of people adore this series, and if you haven’t read it, you probably will also.

There’s no doubt that Dark Horse has an incredible sale on their hands with this “Rock & Roll” gimmick sale, but the comics are actually really good, too. Orchid and The Umbrella Academy are only on sale for very limited time, so make sure to head over to Dark Horse Digital to get your hands on these excellent comics!
