Gary Oldman Joins ‘Motor City’

Throughout his career, actor Gary Oldman has garnered only one Oscar nomination, yet has become one of the most beloved thespians around. Collecting one hell of a rogues gallery of performances, Oldman has played a cavalcade of top notch villains during his career, and now according to THR, he’s about to add yet another one, right after garnering his first Best Actor nomination.

The outlet reports that Oldman has joined the cast of Motor City, a project being set up over at WB, with director Albert Hughes attached to helm.

City stars Dominic Cooper and Amber Heard, and follows the story of “a small-time hood who is framed and sent to prison, only to exact revenge years later to get back the woman he loves.”

While the project itself doesn’t sound all that appealing, Oldman’s involvement definitely adds a lot of intrigue to the film. Toss in the fact that it’s behind directed by Albert Hughes, and you have a thriller that has a lot of potential. Here’s to hoping it can stick the landing.

  1. This should be appealing. The script is notable for containing all of 7 (or so) lines of dialogue. It’s essentially silent. I’ve read it and it’s some of the most engrossing 70 pages I’ve read.
