With Safe House set to bow this weekend, star Denzel Washington is already looking towards his next projects.
Deadline reports that he’s in talks to join Universal’s 2 Guns, alongside Mark Wahlberg and director Baltasar Kormakur.
Kormakur is probably best known for the odd little thriller Contraband, which hit earlier this year, and he’ll take on this film penned by Blake Masters, which follows “a DEA agent and an undercover naval intelligence officer unwittingly investigate each other as each steals mob money.” The picture is based off of a Boom Studios graphic novel.
Personally, I think this could be quite a little thriller. I had my issues with Kormakur’s last film, but there is a bit of charm within that faux-gritty little film, and this could be a great chance for Washington to again chew up some scenery. I mean, I’d sure love him to re-team with someone like Spike Lee for another drama, but there aren’t many actors more fun to watch when they camp it up a bit than Denzel.
