Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone Will Co-Star In ‘The Tomb’
  |

It’s been almost a month since we first reported the rumor that Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, one time rivals at the box office and future partners in the chintzy theme restaurant business, were looking to co-star together in the action thriller The Tomb for director Mikael Hafstrom (1408, The Rite).

Now, the rumor has been confirmed, as an official statement was released regarding the plans for the project, which will be released by Summit Entertainment in North America.

THE TOMB follows Ray Breslin (Stallone) who is the world’s foremost authority on structural security. He’s analyzed every high security prison and has gained a vast array of survival skills. But all Ray’s ingenuity and knowledge are about to be put to work in the most challenging test he’s ever faced: escaping from the master prison of his own design.

Schwarzenegger, in the role of Church, plays a complex inmate with multiple shades of grey. He’s the guy who fights to keep the prisoners from losing their humanity in their darkest hour as they struggle together to stay alive.

The Tomb, which was written for the screen by Miles Chapman, with a rewrite by Jason Keller, will be shot in Louisiana this Spring.

Before The Tomb, Schwarzenegger and Stallone will appear on-screen together next in this Summer’s action sequel The Expendables 2.

Nothing more I can say but, “Cool.” I’m glad that the Austrian Oak and the Italian Stallion are continuing to uphold the grand tradition of ’80s action cinema well into the 21st century and show these Ken doll primadonnas how this shit is done. The project holds some promise, plus the last time Stallone ended up in the pokey it was in the underrated 1989 flick Lock Up, directed by the late B-movie action vet John Flynn (Rolling Thunder) and one of Sly’s finest movies.
