‘Star Wars’ Fans Can Turn To The Dark Side Using The ‘Book Of Sith’
  |

Back in 2010, Lucasfilm put out a wonderful release called The Jedi Path: A Manual For Students Of The Force. The notion was to make a book that would have been used by Jedi Masters and Padawans as a reference manual – a book contained within an electronic vault that would open at the push of a button “in a wash of light and Star Wars sound effects.” For those of you who have a predilection for the Dark Side though, you’re in luck: the Sith version is now coming.

Entitled Book Of Sith: Secrets Of The Dark Side, which was released today, is similar in nature to the previous Jedi version. It is a book, but contained within a Sith Holocron-shaped vault. When you press the button to open, it does so, also with lights and sound effects. Along with the manual are some other goodies, including a Sith lightsaber crystal, Sith artifacts, and more.

And for the Star Wars Expanded Universe fans that also happen to be continuity nerds like myself? Here’s the best part: the manual is said to be a collection of Sith teachings by Darth Sidious, aka Emperor Palpatine himself.

Here’s the official outline:

In his quest for domination, Darth Sidious tracked down what remained of five pivotal Sith texts written by his most powerful predecessors. Then, drawing on the knowledge within the compiled pages, he wrote a sixth text””his own manifesto. Together, these documents, along with several collected objects associated with them, shed light on the philosophy, achievements, and failures of the Sith Order. For years, this collection remained hidden, existing as legend only. But now all who are tempted may unlock the Book of Sith and delve into the dark side. . .

But be warned, for “once you start down that Dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny” – it’s believed there is also a note of warning in the holocron vault from Jedi Grand Master Luke Skywalker himself”¦

I like what the publishers have done with both The Jedi Path and The Book of Sith – it brings forth more elements of The Original Trilogy, The Prequel Trilogy, and The Expanded Universe, in a manner that is more inventive than just a simple book. I am hopeful they have further plans for different future releases. Perhaps an Imperial Manual for members of the 501st? How about a book of the Mando’a culture as a guidebook for principles for the Mandalorian warrior?

In the meantime, however, these books are strong with the Force.

For those of the Dark Side, The Book of Sith was released today, February 10, 2012 and is currently available for purchase at Amazon. It is written by Daniel Wallace.
