‘Dracula: Year Zero’ Heads To Universal

Another day, another vampire film, but this time, it’s not only one that is in turn being revived, but it is the return of the most iconic vampire of them all.

Deadline is reporting that the seemingly DOA project Dracula: Year Zero has been revived over at Universal, with the studio in talks with Gary Shore to helm the rather hotly discussed project. The film was originally tapped to star Sam Worthington with Alex Proyas in the director’s chair, but after budgetary issues arose, the film had been dumped into production purgatory.

Worthington is off the project now, which will find our lead to be Prince Vlad, known as Vlad The Impaler and whose love of blood leads him to become the inspiration for Dracula. Universal has been wanting to get this film off the ground for some time, so while Worthington does appear to be off the project, things look as though they are on the up and up. I like the premise enough, so hopefully this will be the last time we hear about the film rising back up out of the production ashes.

What do you think?
