It’s been far too long.
Following his brilliant film, The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford, a meditative and neo-Altman/Bergman-esque take on the western, we’ve waited with bated breath for the return of director Andrew Dominik, and it’s now time.
Box Office Mojo reveals that Cogan’s Trade has been tapped to bow on September 21, further hinting that the film will likely debut at the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals later this year.
The film stars Brad Pitt and is based on a 1974 novel from George V. Higgins, following the story of Cogan, an enforcer who tries to figure out what happened during a heist during a poker game. The film is a comedy project, which should be interesting to see given that other than save Chopper, his debut, Dominik hasn’t really done much in the way of comedy. As a huge fan of the director, this is one film I can’t wait to lay my eyes on, so my calendar has definitely been marked.
