‘I Am Legend 2’ Moves Forward With Will Smith, New Writer
  |  @   |

After I Am Legend pulled in $585 million worldwide back in 2007, it was pretty obvious that a sequel was all but guaranteed.

It’s been a little longer than expected, but now it appears that I Am Legend 2 is picking up speed. It’s being reported that Arash Amel has been hired to write a script for the sequel, and that Will Smith and Akiva Goldsman are attached as producers.

Though Smith is not officially set to star in the movie yet, his attachment as producer does leave the door open for him to return, and one has to assume they don’t want to make this movie unless it’s his face on the poster.

Arash Amel is a newcomer to the writing scene, with only two yet-to-be-released titles on his resume: The Expatriate, starring Aaron Eckhart and Olga Kurylenko, and Grace of Monaco, which tells the story of Grace Kelly’s involvement in a 1960s tax law dispute between Monaco’s Prince Rainier III and France’s Charles De Gaulle.

  1. If they make this as a sequel, it’d be hard to explain Smith’s character still being alive. Didn’t he die in the movie?
