WB Wants Writer Marc Guggenheim For Robert Downey Jr. ‘Perry Mason’ Adaptation
  |

Now, while the name Perry Mason may not conjure up the strongest images for my young generation, the upcoming film adaptation just got a whole lot more interesting.

THR reports that WB is currently chatting with one of the hottest writers in Hollywood, Marc Guggenheim, to write the film, which is set to star Robert Downey Jr.

Downey will also produce the film, which is set to follow the story of the titular attorney, who was originally played by the iconic Raymond Burr. Allegedly, this new script will find Mason back in LA and in the 1930s, a revelation that definitely makes this project just a bit more intriguing.

Personally, I love this choice. I think Guggenheim is a fine writer, and I couldn’t be more excited to see what Downey Jr. could do with this type of film, with this type of setting. However, it’s been a minute since we’ve had a great courtroom drama, so I’m not holding my breath here. What do you think?
