Listen To A Sample Of Philip Palmer’s ‘Artemis’ Audiobook
  |  @   |

Late last year, Obit Books released Artemis, a new science fiction novel by Philip Palmer, in paperback, Kindle, and audiobook. Now, you can hear a sample from the audiobook over at the author’s website.

Head over to Palmer’s site to hear 7 1/2 minutes from the first chapter of the audiobook, produced by Recorded Books, which has the title character Artemis McIvor narrating the story.

Below is the official synopsis of the book.

When I read the book last year, I was immediately hooked on the story, which is supposed to be sections from the title character’s “Thought Diary” that also contain footnotes from the editors. The tale begins with a riot at Giger’s Moon Penitentiary where Artemis is serving a sentence, though not under her true identity. While reading I imagined Kate Beckinsale in the role of Artemis, so when I started listening to the audiobook, I thought it was really cool to hear Artemis with a British accent. The book has lots of violence and action and is a really great sci-fi story. I highly recommend it and look forward to checking out the Palmer’s other books.

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS

Artemis McIvor is a thief, a con-artist, and a stone cold killer. And she’s been on a crime-spree for, well, for years. The galactic government has collapsed and the universe was hers for the taking.

But when the cops finally catch up with her, they give Artemis a choice. Suffer in prison for the rest of her very long life, or join a crew of criminals, murderers, and traitors on a desperate mission to save humanity against an all-consuming threat.

Now, Artemis has to figure out how to be a good guy without forgetting who she really is.
