ABC’s ‘The Chew’ To Feature Marvel’s ‘Avengers Vs. X-Men’; Yes, Cookies Will Be Made
  |

In an incredibly bizarre stroke of corporate synergy, Marvel announced on Tuesday that their hot summer comic book event Avengers Vs. X-Men will be featured on ABC‘s The Chew on Wednesday, April 4, 2012.

Yeah, I have no idea either, but this is apparently a real thing. Marvel states that the chefs of the talk/cooking show hybrid will both be discussing the comic as well as providing some healthy recipes for viewers of which, and I quote, “even Captain America would approve.” For those that don’t know, Disney owns both the ABC network as well as Marvel Comics, so it’s not really a surprise that there would be some cross-promotion going on here. But on a cooking show?

I don’t know, it sounds kind of ridiculous when you think that maybe Brian Michael Bendis and other creators could have been interviewed on any of the other numerous talk shows that ABC hosts, and maybe they are and I just haven’t seen anything about it. Either way, this is a very weird thing to take place. And if you don’t mind, I’m going to hypothesize about what we could be seeing…

A) Cosplay – The celebrity chefs Mario Batali, Michael Symon, and Carla Hall, style & entertaining expert Clinton Kelly and health & wellness enthusiast Daphne Oz will all be in Marvel cosplay, and by the end of the show, they’ll all be fighting each other while Mario Batali, dressed as Wolverine, sits at the back deciding what he’s going to do.

B) S.H.I.E.L.D. Cookies – Since the hosts of this show will likely have to familiarity with comics, at all, I assume that the cookies they will be making will be shaped like actual shields because they’ll think that S.H.I.E.L.D. is just comic book speak for Captain America’s shield. These will be oatmeal cookies that are gluten free.

C) X-Men Veggie Lasagna – Standard veggie lasagna that remains gluten free, but with one huge exception. This lasagna will have mutated broccoli that has been injected with the Mutant X gene. The mutation of the broccoli makes it extremely soft. Hey, what? Not every mutation gives you super powers.

Joking aside, this is still absolutely ridiculous. But if you want to check out this unbelievably insane sort of programming, then make sure to tune in to ABC on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 1 PM ET/12 PM P/CT. I’ll be watching. How could I not?

Avengers Vs. X-Men #1 will be released tomorrow; you can check out our review of the issue here.
