Sin City

Endless rumors have surrounded the possibility of a Sin City 2, the follow-up to Robert Rodriquez‘s wondfully stylized 2005 adaptation of Frank Miller‘s graphic novel of the same name. So much so that fans had all but given up hope that the sequel would actually ever happen. Today, rumor becomes fact.

Original director Rodriguez, along with Miller and producer Alexander Rodnyansky, have announced that they are ready to begin production on the sequel, which will be titled Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, through Rodriquez’s Quick Draw Productions and Rodnyansky’s AR Films, with Dimension Films handling domestic distribution.

Casting will begin on the project next week, with shooting expected to happen sometime this summer.

The announcement was made via press release, with all involved parties expressing their excitement that this was finally happening.

Rodriguez said of the news:

“The first question I am always asked is ‘When will you make another Sin City?’

I have wanted to re-team with Frank Miller and return to the world he created since the day we wrapped the original, but have felt a duty to the fans to wait until we had something truly exceptional that would meet and exceed what have become epic expectations.

A Dame To Kill For will certainly be worth the wait.”

Sin City creator, screenwriter, and co-director Frank Miller added:

“The first Sin City knocked out audiences who had never seen anything like it before.

Robert Rodriguez and I are going to shake things up and deliver a ferocious film experience that is going to go even further than the first.”

Not much is known yet as to where this new movie will take us, but it’s said to again be a three-part movie, one part being based on Miller’s A Dame To Kill For comic, of course, and two new segments.

A Dame To Kill For features Dwight, played by Clive Owen in the first movie. Owen, as well as many of the other actors, are expected to return for the sequel.
