Emblem for Mr. Toad's Wild Ride

The Disney theme parks have a large catalog of rides and attractions to see, and with the success of four Pirates of the Caribbean movies, it only seems right to go down that catalog and find the next theme-parked based movie. If you want to know what ride is being adapted into a movie, then buckle up, because you are going to be in for one wild ride.

Currently the Haunted Mansion reboot, Jungle Cruise, Matterhorn, and Magic Kingdom park feature films are in the works and now you can add another iconic Disneyland ride to the list. According to Deadline, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride will now be adapted for the big screen and is set to be directed by commercial and music video director Pete Candeland.

Tron: Legacy producer Justin Springer will produce and now the studio is looking for a writer to draft the plot into a film. No stars are attached to appear at this time, but if things progress quickly, then all of that could change in a matter of weeks.

The ride is based on Disney’s adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s The Wind in the Willows. The children’s novel tells the story of four animal characters in a pastoral version of England and is noted for evoking mysticism, adventure, morality, and camaraderie.

Though another theme-parked based movie may sound tiresome, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride sounds like it has a lot of potential. The ride – known for its wild twist and turns – opened at Disneyland in 1955. According to the site, the movie will blend live-action and CGI elements, and if you are familiar with Candeland’s resume, then you know that he as a knack for appealing visuals.

Candeland is best known for directing music videos for The Gorillaz and has worked with Paul McCartney to create a cinematic opening to The Beatles Rock Band for Harmonix. Here are a couple of his videos just in case you are not familiar with Candeland’s works.

  1. Isn’t it already loosely based on the Wind in the Willows?
