Hero Complex Film Festival To Screen ‘Shaun Of The Dead,’ ‘Wall-E,’ ‘Robocop’ & More

San Diego Comic-Con and WonderCon may be the greatest gathering of heroes, villains, and all other pop culture-related shows, but it’s the Hero Complex that’s the one true geek-related film festival. Since its inception in 2009, the LA Times’ Hero Complex Film Festival – lead by LA Times writer Geoff Boucher – has screened films like Batman Begins, Star Trek, the first two Iron Man films, and Dick Tracy.

Now, the list of films that will be screened during the festival has been released and it’s quite a compilation of geek favorites.

It will all start off with a zombie-filled day on Friday, May 18th, with Dawn of the Dead featuring director Zack Snyder and The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, then Shaun of the Dead featuring director Edgar Wright in person. Actor Peter Weller will present a screening of Robocop on May 19th, which will be followed by A Clockwork Orange with Malcolm McDowell and Rainn Wilson taking part in a Super screening. Attendees will head to the stars on Sunday, May 20th as John Carter director Andrew Stanton will present attendees with a screening of Wall-E and a special preview of Brave. This will be followed by screening of Serenity with star Nathan Fillion.

LA Times members will be able to purchase discounted tickets starting now. Tickets for the general public go on sale at 10am Thursday, April 26 at latimes.com/herocomplexfilmfest. Of course there will be a limited amount of tickets to those who want to attend the entire event.

I have to say, I am rather excited to see the variety of films being screened at this year’s Hero Complex Film Festival. Hopefully there will be a few more bills added to the slate.
