‘Harry Potter’ Scribe Steve Klove To Direct Live-Action ‘Jungle Book’ For Warner Bros
  |  @   |

Move over Disney, there’s a new studio that wants to tell the tale of The Jungle Book, Rudyard Kipling‘s collection of stories about his adventures and excursions in dangerous jungles. Though the most notable incarnation of Kipling’s work was the animated version that Disney released, the studio also had a live-action move starring Jason Scott Lee as Mowgli.

Warner Bros. is hiring Harry Potter screenwriter Steve Kloves to write and direct the new live-action version of The Jungle Book. This wouldn’t be the first time that Kloves has directed a movie. He previously worked on The Fabulous Baker Boys and Flash and Bone.

Variety doesn’t mention how WB wants Klove to interpret the new live-action movie. But having already penned the scripts for all seven of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books, we can probably guess that the new live-action jungle book movie will be something that kids and adults can enjoy. Hopefully it will be close to the source material, unlike the animated film from Disney.

There is no word yet on when The Jungle Book will be released or if WB is already circling actors.
