Doom Digest: Death Star, The Avengers, Hungry Hungry Hippos, Star Trek
  |  @   |

Every day here at Doom HQ we receive tons of tips from our readers about really cool stuff from the world of geek, as well as promotional materials for new films, comic books, collectibles, and much more. While we do our best to bring you as much of it as possible, we don’t always have enough geek manpower available to cover it all on a daily basis. But we hate the idea of all of this really cool stuff wasting away in our inbox. How could we NOT cover it? Hence why we’ve resurrected our long-defunct column Bits Of Doom, now rebranded and revamped as Doom Digest, a collection of easily digestible bits of news, videos, photos, and other goodies.

Today: Death Star tea ball and moon shirt, Marvel’s Avengers cast with everyday heroes at the Tribeca Film Festival, a Syfy-style Hungry Hungry Hippos horror movie trailer, and Star Trek silk screen prints, plus some Bits Of Doom.

Avengers Cast At The Tribeca Film Festival

The cast members of Marvel’s The Avengers were in attendance at NYC’s Tribeca Film Festival, where they posed for photos with everyday heroes from New York’s finest, first responders from the NYPD and NYFD and America’s best, service men and women from the army, navy, air force, marines, and coast guard. Below is a photo of Robert Downey Jr. and with the aforementioned heroes. Fellow cast members Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg, and Cobie Smulders were also in attendance.

Death Star Teaball

That’s no Moon, that’s a … tea ball? Yup, Timjo created this Death Star teaball from 925 silver sheet metal, plus the chain, and is good to infuse an whole pot of tea.

Hungry Hungry Hippos Trailer

This weekend, we showed you the poster for a fake Hungry Hungry Hippos movie. Now, the folks at Sneaky Zebra created a Syfy Channel-style trailer their own version of this fake movie, where “a Camping Trip turns into a bloodbath when some ancient ‘Hungry’ beast arrive!”

Star Trek Prints

Artist Tracie Ching has started a Kickstarter page to finance her Star Trek “Live Long” and “Boldly Go” 16×20″ silk screen prints. The prints are of Kirk and Spock and look great. $5 gets you some vinyl stickers; $45 starts the hand signed and numbered limited-edition prints, plus stickers & shipping insurance.
