Doom Digest: ‘Battleship’ Edition
  |  @   |

Every day here at Doom HQ we receive tons of tips from our readers about really cool stuff from the world of geek, as well as promotional materials for new films, comic books, collectibles, and much more. While we do our best to bring you as much of it as possible, we don’t always have enough geek manpower available to cover it all on a daily basis. But we hate the idea of all of this really cool stuff wasting away in our inbox. How could we NOT cover it? Hence why we’ve resurrected our long-defunct column Bits Of Doom, now rebranded and revamped as Doom Digest, a collection of easily digestible bits of news, videos, photos, and other goodies.

With the release this weekend of the film Battleship, starring Liam Neeson, Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgard, Brooklyn Decker, and Rihanna, we’re dedicating today’s Doom Digest to all things [you sunk my] Battleship!

Battleship Merch

Are you a fan of Battleship? No? That’s OK, because this merch you can get is really cool anyway. Check out the Battleship shop over at Zazzle where you can get shirts, mouse pads, iPad & iPhone cases, stamps, stickers, ornaments, and more. That’s one of the designs here below.

Battleship Cake

Here’s a photo of Battleship director Peter Berg at the film’s premiere party last week cutting into an amazing Battleship cake, created by Charm City Cake’s.

According to Food Beast, the cake featured close to 50 LEDs (red to simulate cannon fire, and white strung along the mast), a built in smoke machine, a poured Isomalt base mixed with blue food coloring to simulate the ocean and a hand-painted backdrop. It took 10 people 200 hours to create this 100-pound cake.

Peter Berg To Israeli Journalist: ‘Join The Army!’

Battleship Graphic Novel

Battleship director Peter Berg spoke to MTV’s Josh Horowitz about his plans for a Battleship graphic novel that would give the backstory of the film’s alien invaders. Watch the interview below, where, surprisingly, Berg does not demand that Horowitz join the army.
