‘Bond 50’ Brings All 22 James Bond Films Together For The First Time On Blu-ray
  |

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the James Bond film franchise, and with the long-delayed Skyfall (watch the first trailer) finally in production and set for worldwide release in November, MGM and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment are marking the golden occasion by releasing all 22 original Bond adventures, from Dr. No – the movie that started it all – to 2008’s Quantum of Solace, in one massive Blu-ray box set called Bond 50.

You can check out the full special features list for Bond 50 here below.

Among the 22 films in the box set 9 are making their Blu-ray debut. Each disc will include one of the 007 movies along with several hours of supplements, including audio commentaries, deleted scenes, screen tests, documentaries, and promotional materials. In addition there will be a 23rd disc that includes The World of Bond, a feature that brings together five decades’ worth of Bond style, women, music, villains, and weapons in one exhilarating montage, Being Bond. For Being Bond, each of the actors who’s played the role of Bond since the series’ inception – Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig – return to reflect on the challenges of playing Ian Fleming‘s iconic superspy and how it has impacted their lives and careers. The bonus disc will also include video blogs from the making of Skyfall.

All in all, this looks like a solid that Blu-ray collectors and James Bond fans will eat up, but the only disappointment I could see is the lack of extra features on the Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace discs. The individual Blu-ray of Quantum has a greater deal more bonuses. The Casino Royale disc, on the other hand, has pretty much the same features on the already-released Blu-ray but the three-disc 2008 collector’s edition DVD had far more extras than the Blu-ray and most of them have never been upgraded to high-definition. The new box set would have been a good time to rectify that error, but oh well.

The only other things missing from this set are a complimentary martini (shaken, not stirred) and a toy replica Walther PPK.
