Watch The ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ Red-Band Trailer
  |  @   |

To be honest, I really don’t understand all the hype surrounding Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. I’ve never been on board with the movie from the start. The film seems like it was produced hastily and there is nothing that I see that I like. It all looks generic and stale. So in attempts to alleviate all that angst and worry that some may share with me, Fox has released a brand new red band trailer for the film, which you can view here below.

But even with all the hacking and slashing of vampires, the film doesn’t look like anything truly special. It all just seems very ridiculous even for a summer popcorn movie. The source material is certainly interesting enough for a good read, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s worthy of being adapted into a movie. We will have to see if Timur Bekmambetov‘s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter can prove me wrong when it hits theaters on June 22nd.

Here’s the official synopsis for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter:

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter explores the secret life of our greatest President, and the untold story that shaped our nation. Visionary filmmakers Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov (director of Wanted) bring a fresh and visceral voice to the blood-thirsty lore of the vampire, imagining Lincoln as history’s greatest hunter of the undead.

  1. I am currently listening to this book on tape, and not unlike the author’s previous work, I am non-plussed.  It’s hardly a new book, but like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, it takes a fun idea and ruins it with discombobulated writing. As I listen, I think, ugh, I would hate to see this as a movie.  Plus except for its being Lincoln, there is no hook – and a more interesting hook of the repercussions of being a secret vampire killer (like P&P&Z) is ignored in favor of WOOT MORE BEHEADINGS.  It would have made a fun very short comic book but a novel and a movie it ain’t.  Too bad, since I loved (this director’s film) Night Watch.

  2. @google-3a69a9362b3e74db60d4e1472be23a07:disqus,Agreed.  The book took a fun idea and made it boring.  I managed to finish the book (I gave up on Prejudice & Zombies), but only because I kept expecting it to get better… it didn’t.  It wasn’t a terrible read, but certainly a disappointing one.

The movie actually looks (marginally) better than the book.  I’m willing to give it a chance… but I wouldn’t stake my life on it :[

  3. Hush, nay-sayers.  I’m going to thoroughly enjoy this film, and this trailer reconfirms that. :)
