With filming set to kick off this week near Louisiana, the services of a handful of talents have been enlisted for Hatchet III, the third installment in the saga of feared swamp dweller Victor Crowley.
It’s been announced that a trio of new actors have joined the cast, starting with ’80s star Zach Galligan. The actor is best known for playing the lead in the beloved 1984 Joe Dante horror-fantasy Gremlins, as well as Gremlins 2: The New Batch. Galligan also starred in Waxwork and its sequel, and has continued acting in small-budget features with short TV stints sprinkled in here and there since then.
Also joining the cast is Cody Blue Snider, the son of Twisted Sister singer Dee Snider, and popular geek goddess Rileah Vanderbilt.
In the movie, Galligan will be playing a tough sheriff named Fowler, with Blue Snider playing a deputy with an affection for firearms. Vanderbilt actually played young Victor Crowley in the first two movies, but will be upgrading to a meatier role this time around, playing a SWAT team member.
The newcomers join returning stars Danielle Harris and Kane Hodder, who plays Crowley.
In addition to the three actors, the movie also has found its composer. Bear McCreary, the extremely talented musician behind the scores for TV series like Battlestar Galactica, The Walking Dead, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, will be the man behind the music for Hatchet III.
Adam Green, who created the Crowley character and wrote and directed the first two movies, will only be writing and producing the third movie. B.J. McDonnellsteps in to make his directorial debut. He’s previously worked in the camera and electrical department on the two prior Hatchet flicks as well as Battle: Los Angeles, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and Rob Zombie’s The Devil’s Rejects and Halloween, among many others.
