Ridley Scott Could Direct The Biblical Story Of Moses After ‘The Counselor’
  |  @   |

Ridley Scott has no intention of retiring any time soon. The acclaimed director will be following the highly anticipated Prometheus with the law-based drama titled The Counselor. And as soon as he completes that, he will be moving on to one of many scripts that have been offered to him, one of them being a telling of the biblical story of Moses.

In an interview with Esquire (via The Playlist), the director revealed that he is now attached to direct a movie simply titled Moses. Not much is known about how this story of Moses will be approached, but apparently the project was suppose to remain under the radar for quite some time.

“I’ve got something else in the works. I’m already doing it. It’s called ‘Moses.’ Seriously, seriously. It’s going to happen,” he said. “I probably shouldn’t have let that slip out. I’m not supposed to say anything. It’s definitely in the cards, though. What’s interesting to me about Moses isn’t the big stuff that everybody knows. It’s things like his relationship with Ramses [II, the pharaoh]. I honestly wasn’t paying attention in school when I was told the story of Moses. Some of the details of his life are extraordinary.”

This isn’t the first movie based on Biblical stories we will see in the coming years. Cameras are about to roll for Darren Aronofsky’s Noah, and Steven Spielberg is attached to direct a story about Moses as well. But I honestly hope that we won’t see two Moses movies in the same year, the way we saw two Snow White movies this year.

It would be interesting to see the relationship aspect of Moses and Ramses as opposed to the story of the Exodus. The story of Moses has been told many times – Cecil B. DeMille’s The Ten Commandments with Charlton Heston being the most famous of the group – but a look at the relationship between Moses and Ramses, now it would be a refreshing take on the Biblical story.
