What’s Next For Christopher Nolan After ‘The Dark Knight Rises’?
  |  @   |

The epic conclusion to Christopher Nolan‘s legend of Batman comes an end in July with The Dark Knight Rises, but once that is behind him, the acclaimed director is setting his sights on some possible projects, and it could be another take on a franchise character. He also says that he will no longer pursue directing an iconic figure in history.

Empire spoke to Nolan who said that he will no longer work towards directing making a Howard Hughes film, saying that Bruce Wayne became his Hughes film. In a way Nolan’s Batman franchise is a lot like the Hughes project he was looking forward to directing. Both were wealthy and quirky characters who started out as an orphan at a very young age.

So while Nolan crosses Hughes off his list, the director is expressing some interest in another franchise project. In that same interview the director said that he would like to take on directing Agent 007 himself.

But as exciting as a Nolan-directed James Bond film sounds, it may not come to fruition so easily. EON Productions, who has the rights over the Bond name, has an idea on how they want the 00 agent to be portrayed. Nolan is also known for doing things his own way, could possibly want to have full control over the creation of the film, which could possibly include replacing Daniel Craig. So the would be conflicting interests the two parties have would prevent this from happening.

However, Nolan says there is still a possibility that he could direct the film, but it “would have to be the right situation and the right time in their cycle of things.” In layman terms, don’t expect this to happen any time soon.
