Elvis Hologram Confirmed For Film, TV, Shows & More
  |

Looks like a hunka hunka burning hologram is headed to various forms of media soon. The next late figure (victim?) to be lined up ala Tupac with this disturbing and headshaking new trend of resurrecting dead icons via holographic images is the king of rock and roll, Elvis Presley.

Yahoo news reports that Digital Domain Media Group announced today that it has gotten the greenlight from the Presley estate to create a hologram of the iconic musical legend for television, films, shows, and other projects worldwide, including appearances as well. No further details have been mentioned, but the mind boggles at the campy possibilities of this, Elvis side by side with Tom Jones perhaps? A guest appearance on True Blood*? One of The Three Stooges if they make a theatrical sequel? The list of opportunities is endless.

No word on when the fabricated king of rock and roll makes his “comeback,” or if it will be the raw Elvis of the 1950s or the bloated carnival sideshow freak that was his final years in the 1970s, or somewhere in between. But maybe his late manager Colonel Tom Parker will get his OWN hologram and hold a press conference answering these questions when the time comes.

Last month we reported that Queen plans to perform with the hologram of their late singer Freddie Mercury.

[*Editor’s Note: Not unlikely, as there is actually a character in the True Blood books named Bubba that’s alluded to being the King.]

  1. *sigh* Why do they keep insisting on calling this technology that’s been around since the 16th century a hologram?
