Even with Speed Racer‘s small cult following, The Wachowski’s last directorial effort proved to be a fruitless venture. But that didn’t stop Andy and Lana Wachowski from doing what they do best – making movies that stretch the imagination. I imagine that they will be recognized for just that when Cloud Atlas hits theaters this December.

Now since that film is in post-production, it’s time to see what’s happening with their forthcoming film Jupiter Ascending. Slowly but surely there are some things that are trickling out of the faucet and we are learning new things about the film.

We already know that Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum have claimed the lead roles in the film. But Vulture seems to have learned the plot of the Wachowski’s newest directorial effort.

Here is what may be the plot for Jupiter Ascending:

So the Earth is one giant fishbowl and these meta-humans are watching over us from other galaxies. But what about the other characters. Well from what Vulture has, we learn that Kunis is:

Obviously the current Queen of the Universe is not to pleased to learn that someone could possibly take her throne, so she sends a bounty hunter (played by Tatum) to take her out. But the bounty hunter fails to kill his target and falls in love with her.

To be honest Jupiter Ascending sounds like the cosmic version of Snow White. It shares a lot of similar themes and plot elements with the classic fairy tale. But despite all of that, we have yet to see anything from the film. Cameras haven’t even started rolling yet, so we can’t even make an initial judgment.

So while we are on the Jupiter Ascending rumor mill, there is word that there is a role for Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Again, let’s wait for some form of confirmation before we make judgments.
