Warner Bros. Revives ‘Justice League’ Movie By Hiring ‘Gangster Squad’ Scribe Will Beall To Write Its Script
  |  @   |

Although Warner Bros had planned to bring DC Comics’ greatest heroes together for a Justice League movie, the studio couldn’t find a way to get it off the ground. Marvel took a slightly different approach with uniting their heroes for The Avengers by first having them star in their own films, as opposed to getting all the characters together with no back story.

As the years have passed, WB was able to release three Batman movies, one Superman movie, and one Green Lantern movie. Only Nolan’s Batman franchise was able to make significant numbers that would stretch out into a trilogy while the other two quickly faded away. But with the final chapter of Nolan’s Batman film coming to a close, what will the studio do to keep DC movies alive?

Well barring any strikes from the the Writers Guild – just one of the factors that forced the studio to shut down the production of the Justice League movie the first time – the Justice League movie is well on its way to come back into the light. According to Variety, Gangster Squad writer Will Beall is now signed on to pen a script for the film. This also says a lot about Beall’s writing ability and that the studio has high hopes that he can truly bring the script together.

Of course with no actual date for the film, there is no way to confirm if WB will use the same tactics that Marvel used to bring The Avengers together. The Avengers was literally four years in the making. Indie Wire says that the stories used in Nolan’s Batman films and the Man of Steel will not tie into the revived Justice League movie.

But with Batman heading towards a reboot phase and the uncertainty of how well Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel will actually do, WB could produce the Justice League movie without Superman. But seeing as Superman is one of the most prominent members of the Justice League, its hard to believe that WB would go that route. There is a chance that Snyder could be lying or WB order a minor script change that would have him be introduced into the Justice League, but without knowing anything about either of the projects, it’s speculation.

  1. “Reboot” is a term that I’ve long become tired of hearing. I’m deeply saddened today, to read that entire franchises can now reach a “reboot phase”. =(
