ROAD TRIP!!! In Ghostbusters #9 the boys in gray leave the comfy confines of New York City and venture out into the rest of the USA as the PKE goes off the charts!!! Yes, folks, it’s up to our favorite paranormal eliminators to save the country!

First off, writer Erik Burnham has created a GREAT starting point for people to jump on this book. And if you haven’t been reading it before, shame on you, you’re missing out on a lot of fun. The Ghostbusters first stop on their country-wide trek finds them in Detroit, Michigan, as the city has a little problem with a sizable army of ghosts. Writing wise, there’s nothing here that hasn’t been done to perfection in the 8 previous issues. Witty dialogue, fun story, plenty of ghostbusting, and action. And, a little bit of underlying plot thrown in for good measure. This is going to be one fun story arc! Grab this book and add it to your pull list — you’re not gonna want to miss these issues!

I’m about to hire a security guard for artist Dan Schoening. I don’t want him or anyone else hurting those million dollar hands of his. One thing that I’ve neglected to mention in my past reviews of this title is the amount of awesome fun stuff that he throws in the backgrounds. There’s been everything from The A-Team to nods to that crappy Ghostbusters show by Filmation. In this issue, that doesn’t change. His characters designs for the Ghostbusters are dead on likenesses. Not of the actors, but of the CHARACTERS, which is what’s so impressive. And I’m not sure who he is, but the Mayor of Detroit is one REALLY handsome man!

Writer/artist Tristan Jones hits a home run with his wicked awesome tale featuring Peter Venkman out on a solo mission. In a short few pages he’s crammed everything in there. It’s a really great, but short, back-up story.

What more can I say? I love this comic and you will too. What makes it so good is that the creative team have captured the SPIRIT (no pun intended) of the Ghostbusters franchise. You really feel like your reading the further adventures of the Ghostbusters. I haven’t gotten that from any other Ghostbusters comic so far. Here’s to a LONG run on this fantastic title!!!

*Authors note: I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Erik, Dan, and Tristan for all that they’re done on this title. From day one, I’ve been a huge fan of this book AND these three creators. I’ve talked many times with all three of them, and you could not find a bunch of nicer, more down to earth guys than they are. And a special thanks for my cameo in this comic as the Mayor of Detroit. I got to shake hands with Peter Venkman!!! How awesome is that?!?!?!?!
