There’s been a severe lack of puppetry in our lives lately, something that was finally and mercifully sated by the recent hit, The Muppets, which delivered most 20 and 30-somethings right back to their childhoods.
Now, thanks to the success of that movie, The Jim Henson Company can branch out to some other projects. BBC One has announced that they’ve entered into a partnership with the late, great puppeteer’s company for a new series titled No Strings Attached.
The show will introduce an entirely new cast of puppet characters in their puppet world, and, much like the old Muppet Show or something like Sesame Street, the show will bring in human celebrity guests (two, actually). The two guests will then compete against each other in a variety of head-to-head games run by the puppet characters, as well as take part in sketches.
Jim’s son Brian Henson will act as lead puppeteer on No Strings Attached and Danny Baker will handle lead writing duties, with all puppets created at the Jim Henson Creature Shop in Los Angeles.
