An animated series that some of you may be familiar with and others not at all familiar with, Dan Vs. is finally making its way to home video.
The show, which comes from the same animation studio behind episodes of Family Guy, The Simpsons, Beavis and Butt-Head, and King of the Hill, airs on Discovery and Hasbro’s The Hub network, but, if you’re like myself, is also a show you’ve never heard of—to the point of it already getting through a significant chunk of its second season unnoticed—on a channel you’ve never heard of. One of the primary reasons for this is because it used to be the Discovery Kids channel, and most of its content is aimed at a much younger audience. Upon further inspection, however, the channel does air re-runs of ALF, so we should all give it a peek on that basis alone.
For those of you who are aware of and watch Dan Vs., you’ve likely been wondering just when the first season of the show would be released on DVD. The answer is later this summer, on July 17th, and you can pre-order it right now.
The show follows, Dan (voiced by Curtis Armstrong, who played Booger in Revenge of the Nerds and voices Snot on American Dad!), a man who fully embodies the pure and unadulterated anger many of us feel towards life, but repress it away. Dan does not repress. He takes things that anger him head on, no matter what it is.
This leads to series of battles between Dan and these things—which includes everything from the Wolf-Man and Canada, to dentists and ninjas—with the help of his best friend Chris (Dave Foley), who rarely wants to get involved in these absurd adventures but does anyway.
Other voice talents includes Paget Brewster, John DiMaggio, Meredith Baxter, John C. McGinley, Kevin Michael Richardson, Maurice LaMarche, and the one and only Mark Hamill.
Once again, you can pre-order the first season now.
