Bryan Singer Confirms ‘X-Men: First Class’ Sequel Will Be Based On ‘Days Of Future Past’

Back in June it was rumored that the plot used for the upcoming sequel to X-Men: First Class could be based on the popular Uncanny X-Men storyline, “Days of Future Past.”

This has now been confirmed by producer Bryan Singer, who says it deals with aspects of the comic but also presents a bunch of new stuff as well. He also says the movie is titled X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Speaking to IGN, Singer made the confirmation and talked about possibly connecting it with other X-Men movies, saying:

“I can say it’s being written right now and it will start shooting in a few months. It’s going to be very ambitious. It’s called Days of Future Past and it deals with aspects of that comic but also some very new things. I just don’t want to give any of it away. Matthew Vaughn will be directing and I’m totally excited about it.

I think there’s a strong desire to broaden out the universe. The X-Men universe on its own is every bit as big as the Marvel universe and I think it’s time to reach out and explore it and perhaps even bring some connectivity between the films, as Marvel’s done so well. You may see some of that, I don’t know.”

If the movie follows the comic storyline closely enough, it should be quite a ride. The comic tells a story set in both the present day and the future. In the present, the X-Men are battling Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and her Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, while in the future they’ve failed to stop this Brotherhood from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly, leading to a United States run by Sentinels where mutants are kept in an internment camp.

Are you excited about a “Days of Future Past” X-Men: First Class sequel?
