Last month we reported that Andrew Stantonhad been given the go ahead to put a sequel for Finding Nemo into motion. When that was announced, some wondered what the plot of the story might be. While we are still a long ways away from finding that out, we now have word that Ellen DeGeneres will be reprising her role as the forgetful but ever so friendly fish, Dory, in Finding Nemo 2.
As earlier reported, the Pixar big wigs fell in love with the concept of the story for a Finding Nemo sequel. So this could be a fitting sequel to one of Pixar’s most popular titles.
But don’t read too much into the fact that DeGeneres’ character was signed on first. That doesn’t necessarily mean that the film will be called Finding Dory. Nothing has been confirmed and we don’t even know if Albert Brooks is coming back. The daytime talk show host has been quite vocal about a sequel getting off the ground though. So it’s great to see that she will be back to voice Dory. To be honest, it wouldn’t be much of a Finding Nemo sequel without her.
Victoria Strouse will pen the script, while Lindsey Collins will act as producer. No word yet on when the film would be released, but since Pixar is notorious for doing an extensive amount of research for their films, we could probably see Finding Nemo 2 hit theaters in late 2016.
