Chloe Moretz may have had a lot of criminals’ blood on her hands in Kick-Ass, but she will have a different blood all over herself in the new adaptation of Stephen King’s horror story Carrie. The first of many marketing photos are actually starting off in a pretty big way, with Moretz wearing a prom dress covered in blood, which was the pinnacle scene in the original movie.

It’s an interesting marketing strategy to start off with such an iconic scene from a classic movie. But who am I to complain. Moretz is one of today’s best young actors and I can’t wait to see what she can do with the character.
Moore will play has he unstable mother and as you can see in her eyes and the knife she is holding, she will play a mother that you’d wish you didn’t have.
Entertainment Weekly, which provided the first new images from the film, also does a side-by-side comparison of the two characters. There isn’t much difference between the two visually. But this won’t be a mere retelling of the Carrie that Brian De Palma directed, instead the Kimberly Peirce-directed and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa-scripted film will be more character centric.
Carrie hits theaters on March 15, 2013.
Here’s the officially synopsis:
The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White (Moore) and her daughter Carrie (Moretz). Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin (Judy Greer) tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson (Portia Doubleday), but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell (Gabriella Wilde), regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross (Ansel Elgort), to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc. Brian De Palma’s 1976 film version of “Carrie” earned Oscar nominations for stars Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie.
