Doug Ellin Says ‘Entourage’ Movie Script Near Completion; Will Take Place 6 Months After Finale
  |  @   |

When Doug Ellin‘s hit HBO show Entourage ended after an 8-year run last year, fans were hoping to see its movie, where Ari (Jeremy Piven) works his magic as a studio head and Vince (Adrien Grenier) begins his new life as a married man. Sure enough, there was a movie in the works, and now Ellin has announced that he is 110 pages into the screenplay and that it’s nearing completion.

According to Deadline, the film will take place six months after the events of the series finale, where Ari is finally a studio head, Vince is steps away from getting married, but the group still goes out to hang at exclusive parties, something that was the basis of the show for eight years running. Basically if it ain’t broke, why fix it.

Despite the news, HBO has yet to lay lies on the script, which sounds like it isn’t any different from any of the episodes on the show. Then you have to deal with one of the biggest problems of them all, which is making this a movie for everyone, including those who may have never seen or heard of the show.

Ellin said:

There are interesting developments about Ari as a studio head, and that’s still the first page for me. But foremost is the friendship between the guys who are still hanging out and going to fun parties, and it continues with the same characters.

If these characters in the movie are just going to go through the same motions as they did on the show, why bother even going through the trouble of making a movie? Do the events in the series finale have that much an effect on the characters if they end up doing the same things over again?

What are your thoughts?
