EA Officially Announces ‘Dragon Age 3’; BioWare Developing With ‘Battlefield 3’ Engine

It’s been widely assumed that one of the projects that BioWare has been working on is a new chapter in their hit fantasy RPG series, Dragon Age.

Now it’s official, with Electronic Arts announcing Dragon Age III: Inquisition.

Not much is known yet on where exactly the game will take players, but there is a couple of tidbits that should excite those who have been looking forward to the game.

Dragon Age III is being developed by BioWare’s Edmonton and Montreal studios, and the general manager of those locations, Aaryn Flynn, had this to say to fans who may be worried about the quality of the third game after a lackluster Dragon Age II.

“We’ve been poring over player feedback from past games and connecting directly with our fans. They haven’t held back, so we’re not either. With Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, we want to give fans what they’re asking for – a great story with choices that matter, a massive world to explore, deep customization and combat that is both tactical and visceral.”

Another promising tidbit is that the game is being developed using the Frostbite 2 engine, which is the same engine created by DICE used to make Battlefield 3.

Dragon Age III is currently planned for release in late 2013—will you play it?
