Doctor Who Series 7 continues as the Doctor (Matt Smith), travelling with Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill), arrive in 1870 USA, in a remote town called Mercy. The town is a frightened populace, protecting an alien scientist, Doctor Kahler Jex (Adrian Scarborough), from a cybernetic weaponized being known only as The Gunslinger (Andrew Brooke).

As the Doctor investigates the odd situation further, he and his companions learn very quickly that not all is as it seems with the two aliens in the old wild west town, and are putting the population of Mercy in great danger…

During TARDISblend 54, we discuss the clues provided in this episode that may indicate the current season may be being played in a different chronological sequence than previously anticipated. We examine the evidence showing up in the series so far, to highlight more moments justifying our running theory.

Additionally, we dig deep into the writing and direction, as Tom and Greg find themselves again with polar opposite opinions of another episode. Later, we highlight a lot of the symbolism being detected and discussed by Doctor Who fans around the world in the new series, and expand on what it may possibly mean for future revelations in the storyline.

And finally, as always, we take a look at some comments from our listeners, and provide some Classic Doctor Who recommendations to our listners.

All this and more on the latest TARDISblend!

Presented by Greg Davies (cGt2099 from The Social Blend Podcast) and geek journalist Tom Cheredar, TARDISblend is a podcast that takes a look at the ongoing adventures in the Doctor Who Universe – as Matt Smith makes his journey as the Eleventh Doctor!

  1. A Town called Bastard (Old movie)
I was totally wrong , A Town called Mercy was better than I expected guys, but seeing the FULL prequel afterwards, showing the making of the Cyborgs,
See: The Making of a Cyborg
I realised that there was a lot more storyline to this episode than time allowed.
The artwork visualisations on the BBC site show the Cyborg as a machine??? See:
so it looked like there were major changes made along the way. And trying to make a Blockbuster movie in 45 minutes, I think that we are going to run imto these editing problems.
But on a real positive note, Murray Gold’s score was fantastic.
Gayman as script editor and JK onboard!!! what wonderful ideas, but highly unlightly me thinks. But we can live in hope ;) Infact JK lives just along the road from me, so I’ll mention your suggestion next time I see her.
OK, now I’m ready for an invasion of Black Boxes ;)
    All the best lads
