Matt Reeves has been officially confirmed for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the sequel to the hit 2011 movie, Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
Reeves is confirmed for the job after recent reports that he was on 20th Century Fox’s shortlist of directors. A new director was needed after the first film’s director, Rupert Wyatt, had to step away from the sequel due to not feeling he could deliver a quality product in the time he was being given.
A screenplay for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has already been turned in by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver that Fox is said to be very high on, and the hopes is that the movie can be released on the May 23, 2014 date they already occupy.
Reeves is best known as the director of the J.J. Abrams-produced found footage monster movie, Cloverfield, as well as the American remake of Swedish horror hit Let the Right One In, which was titled Let Me In.
He was also set to helm a new movie version of The Twilight Zone, but it appears that job will now eventually be going to someone else.
What are your hopes for the sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes?
