Production for any film will have its fair share of problems on the set. The new Sacha Gervasi-directed drama Hitchcock will shed light on the kinds of problems that Alfred Hitchcock (Anthony Hopkins) experienced on and off the set of his greatest thriller Psycho.
Check out the first trailer for the film here below.
This latest biopic only covers the period of time in which Hitchcock was trying to get Psycho from development to production to full release. There are many conflicts that stand in Hitchcock’s way. People believe he is past his prime, there are production issues on set, and his romanced interest Alma Reville (Helen Mirren) believes she is being overshadowed by Hitchcock’s greatness. Scarlett Johansson will play Janet Leigh, while Danny Huston, Toni Collette, Jessica Biel, Michael Stuhlbarg, and James D’Arcy provide supporting roles.
Looking at the trailer, it’s easy to see that Hopkins is channeling a little bit of Hannibal Lecter into his Alfred Hitchcock. Tonally they are somewhat the same. But the film really isn’t about the horrors of production; deep down it is a love story about a man caught between the passions of a woman and his love of filmmaking. It looks like it can go for a few awards and based on its release date, that’s what Fox Searchlight is aiming for.
Fox Searchlight will release Hitchcock in limited theaters on November 23rd.

From the preview, looks like Anthony Hopkins has Hitchkock’s voice and mannerisms down pat. And why is Helen Mirren so good at every role she plays? Definitely want to catch this.
