Check Out These 2 Unsettling Clips From Barry Levinson’s ‘The Bay’

Hot off the heels from its appearance at New York City’s Comic-Con this past weekend comes film footage from The Bay, the newest film from the Academy Award-winning prolific director Barry Levinson, which has a narrative mired in the thriller genre focusing on a cover-up in a small town in Maryland in which an outbreak of mysterious proportions leads to an epidemic responsible for the deaths of over 700 townsfolk.

You can see our full coverage of the NYCC panel: NYCC 2012: Barry Levinson’s “˜The Bay’ Panel. The footage can be glimpsed below, along with the offical synopsis from Roadside Attractions, who is set to debut the film on November 2, 2012 in theaters and On Demand.

The queasy and highly uncomfortable clips, filmed mostly in a verite style by way of smartphones and other digital media of that stripe, gives a hint and slight insight into the complex and upsetting reasons for the outbreak and the vicious effects of it. Should be an intense time at the movie theater when the film debuts next month in theaters nationwide and also available On Demand.

Official Synopsis

Two million fish washed ashore. One thousand blackbirds dropped from the sky. On July 4, 2009 a deadly menace swept through the quaint seaside town of Claridge, Maryland, but the harrowing story of what happened that Independence Day has never been told – until now. From Oscar(r)-winning* director Barry Levinson and the producers of Paranormal Activity and Insidious comes this nerve-shredding tale of a small town plunged into absolute terror. The authorities believed they had buried the truth about the tragedy that claimed over 700 human lives. Now, three years later, a reporter has emerged with footage revealing the cover-up and an unimaginable killer: a mysterious parasitic outbreak. Told from the perspective of those who were there and saw what happened, The Bay unfolds over 24 hours though people’s iPhones, Androids, 911 calls, web cams, and whatever else could be used to document the nightmare in Claridge.
