‘The Wolverine’ Scribe Mark Bomback To Rewrite ‘Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes’
  |  @   |

As luck would have it, Fox didn’t need to make a mad scramble to find a director for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, after Rupert Wyatt exited because he felt he couldn’t give the sequel the same quality as he did in the first film. Let Me In and Cloverfield director Matt Reeves was brought in to direct the film, which would be his first time directing a major summer tentpole flick.

But before Reeves can sit in the director’s chair, Mark Bomback will be rewriting the draft that Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver penned. The script recently saw some revisions done by Contagion scribe Scott Burns.

Bomback is best known for his collaboration with Len Wiseman on Live Free or Die Hard and Total Recall. His most recent work was writing the script for The Wolverine, starting Hugh Jackman.

While Live Free or Die Hard and Total Recall may not have been the best films, Bomback did some uncredited rewrites to Rise of the Planet of the Apes, so think of it as Bomback coming back to familiar territory. You may have also noticed a slight trend as some of the aforementioned titles are under the Fox banner. Well there is a reason for that. THR reports that Fox has made Bomback their go-to-guy for quite some time. The writer is also working on the script for the 24 movie.

So we’ll see how much Bomback’s involvement has any affect on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Until then, we’ll keep you posted on any new developments for the film.

Sounds like he knew that FOX wasn’t going to pay for the same quality.
