‘The Evil Dead’ Red-Band Trailer: Blood, Gore & Possessed Trees
  |  @   |

There is a good chance that people will frown upon any remake of a classic or cult movie. However, as Bruce Campbell said in yesterday’s teaser, he knows what you really want in The Evil Dead. The actor promised us that it will be bloody, it will be gory, and it will be nasty. If you watched the announcement trailer, you might have heard the faint overwhelming applause from those who saw a teaser at the The Evil Dead Panel at the New York Comic-Con, which would indicate that Campbell has delivered on his promise.

Now we got our first look at what all the commotion is really all about. Check out the first red-band trailer for The Evil Dead here below.

This trailer is really truly gory and it makes me wonder what was intentionally left out for the movie. Possessed tree branches, severing limbs, blood rain, cutting someone’s tongue in half using an electric turkey carver are the nasty – and I mean that in a good way – nods to Sam Raimi’s classic, so I am interested in what new bloody disgusting elements director Fede Alvarez will bring to this franchise.

The Evil Dead stars Jane Levy, Lou Taylor Pucci, Elizabeth Blackmore, and Jessica Lucas. The film opens in theaters on April 12, 2013. So are you in?

In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

  1. This looks like crap. I’ll take the original any day of the week.

  2. Screw it. I’ll give it a chance. Nothing will ever best the original, but its worth a look!

  3. I don’t understand why people are complaining. The original “Evil Dead” was kind of shitty. “Evil Dead 2” was fantastic, but let’s be honest, it wasn’t a straight horror flick. I can’t believe people can be so stuck on stuff that they refuse to give things a chance. I think this trailer looked pretty great–considering how awful modern horror tends to be. I’m looking forward to it.

  4. Fede Alvarez stated “the film will heavily rely on practical effects than CG effects.” So Fede, like the original? How original of you… So basically it’s Cabin in the Woods, without as much humor… and Cabin in the Woods was basically Evil Dead plus a ton of other ‘camp’ style horror films… so basically… it’s just a repeat of a repeat… (My attempt at humor). It’s a Non-meta film that is a meta film but is pretending to not know what the f**k a meta film is. How lame…
