‘X-Men: First Class’ Director Matthew Vaughn Not Directing Sequel; Bryan Singer Possible
  |  @   |

There was a lot of uncertainty when an X-Men prequel set back in the ’60s was announced, but X-Men: First Class arrived and won over the masses, many of whom considered it to be the best X-Men movie yet. Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake, Kick-Ass), the man who directed First Class, was a big reason for the film’s success, and it was reported back in January that he’d be back for the sequel, as well.

Now comes word, unfortunately, that Vaughn has decided not to make the sequel, which we found out would be based on the popular storyline Days of Future Past. But, while that’s not news that will make fans happy, there is now a chance that Bryan Singer will step in to take his place.

Singer, who directed the first X-Men movie and its sequel, X2, is said to be at the very top of Twentieth Century Fox’s wishlist of directors to sit in Vaughn’s vacated chair. We’ve heard back in 2009 that Singer might be talking to Fox about directing X-Men 4, which resurfaced back in 2010 as well. X4 is still nowhere in sight, so this might be Singer’s best chance to hop back into that world if he wants it.

There was no reason given for Vaughn’s departure, but it is said that he will direct another comic book movie for Fox titled Secret Service, which he’s been working on with Mark Millar.

Do you want to see Bryan Singer direct X-Men: Days of Future Past, or someone else?

  2. Bryan Singer is a hack. I hate anything the guy touches. I’m not trolling here I just think Usual Suspects is over rated, after that, it’s all a waste of time and energy. Why not get somebody who actually reads the comics to do the movie, just a thought.
