Carrie Fisher Says She’s In ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’; Billy Dee Williams Would Like To Return
  |  @   |

The last major development we have heard for anything concerning Star Wars: Episode VII was that producer Frank Marshall, husband of LucasFilm’s President Kathleen Kennedy, said the search for directors has narrowed down to a few names. We’ve already heard other directors deflect the question by saying they wish the person that directs it some luck. Actors involved in the original franchise, however, have all expressed an interest reprising their roles in Episode VII.

Toy Story 3 screenwriter Michael Arndt is currently working on the script for a brand new trilogy. Reports are that Episode VII will be an original story; whether or not that means we will see new characters or the same characters in a different setting remains to be seen. But original stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford have expressed interest in reprising their roles.

Interestingly enough, Fisher has led us to believe that the casting process has already begun. At a book signing, one of her fans asked her about reprising her role as Princess Leia in Star Wars: Episode VII. The fan posted her response on TheForce.net.

“I was at Carrie Fisher’s booksigning in Cherry Hill, NJ on November 15, and the interview she did started with the question ‘Are you really going to be in a new star wars movie?’ and Carrie answered quietly ‘Yes….I thought it was already common knowledge.’ She did not elaborate, as she probably doesn’t want to crow too loudly at this point in the project development. But this is the first confirmation from one of the main [original trilogy] cast. [LucasFilm] has not said the cast would return yet.”

E! Online was able to confirm that the quote was nothing more than a joke and that no offer has been made. But is there more to this that we are led to believe? Again, without any sort of confirmation from the people who are actually working on the film, we will have to take both quotes very lightly. But if she is indeed involved, it would prove that we will be seeing the Skywalker family once more, which could also mean that we will be seeing Han Solo again.

Why do I bring up Han Solo? Well, not because Ford is confirmed to come back, but Billy Dee Williams says that he’d be interested in returning. When asked if he would like to come back, Williams responded with “I suppose so.” Not the most enthusiastic response, but maybe he is keeping it low key. We’ll be sure to keep you updated as soon as more developments come in. The quote comes from TMZ, so again let’s just take what Williams said with a grain of salt.
