Sometimes it takes many years, even decades, for a popular Disney film brand to enter the theme parks in the form of an attraction. For instance, while the Voyage of The Little Mermaid first graced Disney’s Hollywood Studios only two years after the film’s debut, over 20 years passed before a ride shaped up in the parks.

Reviving a Golden Age comic is tough. Doing it with style is even tougher. And yet we find that this new incarnation of Moon Girl does just that. I had the pleasure of reading all five issues back-to-back and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Amazingly enough, Tony Trov and Johnny Zito created a 1950’s New York with a combination noir and pulp ambiance. Drawing upon all the best elements of those two genres, they really bring this comic to life for the reader. I must say that it created a near perfect background for this story to be told. And what a story it is…displaced princess becomes avenging badass. And it’s accomplished through expert storytelling that takes me back to my youth and all those summers spent reading old pulp novels and golden age comics.

HBO has ordered a pilot for another possible comedy series titled Silicon Valley. The live-action show comes from Mike Judge, who’s best know as the creator of Beavis and Butt-Head and co-creator of King of the Hill, along with fellow King of the Hill executive producers John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky.

The show is set in Silicon Valley, and follows the people that are “most qualified to succeed,” but are also the “least capable of handling success.”

The first issue in a new series from Arcana Comics, The Inventor: The Story Of Tesla is amazing in that it covers a huge amount of history in just over 150 pages. In a time where inventions were common, Nikola Tesla stood out above the rest. Unfortunately, his history is a bit lost amongst other greats such as Thomas Edison and J.P. Morgan. Prepare yourself for a crash course in the history of man’s harnessing of electricity, Tesla’s life, and how he almost single-handedly revolutionized the modern world.

We start with a quick study of his early years and how his father wanted him to study at a seminary school. We jump quickly through those times to his young adulthood and how he traveled to America to follow his dreams. Becoming a protege to Thomas Edison, he learned that politics play a huge part in any funding of scientific studies, forcing him to reevaluate the way he approached his investors later in life.

In the 2005 movie Sin City, Michael Clarke Duncan played a bad dude named Manute, who had a run in with Dwight (Clive Owen), Gail (Rosario Dawson), and her girls.

The character will also be part of the upcoming long awaited sequel, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, but, due to the sad and unexpected death of Clarke Duncan, a replacement was necessary.

It’s being reported that Dennis Haysbert, star of the hit TV series 24 and movies like Major League, has entered into negotiations to step into the role.
