In November there were rumors that Joseph Gordon-Levitt may just be a name that could play the role of Batman in a planned movie version of DC Comics’ Justice League now that Christian Bale is done with the superhero.
Now comes word that Gordon-Levitt might just instead be jumping over to the other team, with word that he is now in the running for the lead role in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
Recently we were informed of a list of actors that Marvel Studios was testing for the human lead in the movie, a character named Peter Quill.
Those names included Joel Edgerton (Warrior, Zero Dark Thirty), Eddie Redmayne (The Pillars of the Earth, Les Miserables), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), Jim Sturgess (Across the Universe, Cloud Atlas), Lee Pace (The Hobbit, The Fall).
All of these names are exceptionally talented, but one has to think that if Marvel can score Joseph Gordon-Levitt, they’re going to jump on that opportunity.
Another name that was also mentioned as a candidate is Chuck star Zachary Levi.
Guardians of the Galaxy will be released on August 1, 2014, and will be directed by James Gunn (Slither, Super).
Who do you want to see score the lead role in the movie?
