It’s a huge time right now for Rush. Not only did the band just wrap up the North American leg of their current world tour in support of their 20th studio, Clockwork Angels, but the Canadian rock trio was finally chosen for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame this year. As if that wasn’t enough, now their songs have been turned into lullabies you can gently rock your baby to sleep with!

Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions Of Rush, which will be released on MP3 and CD on January 29, 2012, turns the band’s progressive rock tunes like “Tom Sawyer,” “The Spirit Of Radio,” and “Freewill” into pleasing instrumental lullabies for your baby’s delicate ears that are also suitable for your seasoned rocker sensibilities. (It’s a win-win!)

Rockabye Baby!, which was created by Lisa Roth (sister to Van Halen’s David Lee) in conjunction with CMH Records, has previously released lullaby renditions for bands like Metallica (listen to sample here below), Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath*, and many more. Roth told Forbes magazine that she knew they’d “hit something” with the rock lullabies when she saw an interview with Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett where he said he played it for his child and it worked.

According to Roth, “It’s more for the parent than the child but it calms the child at the same time.”

Now, I don’t have any babies, but you can beat your ass that once I get my hands on this album, I’ll be heading into dreamland each night to the sounds of the “2112: Overture” lullaby.
